Hello from southern Maine

I've been lurking for a week and figured I should say hi. I currently have a 2009 Troy Bilt Storm 3090 XP, but will be getting an Ariens by next season. The TB has worked good, but I am getting tired of dealing with having to replace small parts to keep it running. I have had to replace a broken auger engagement cable a couple of times because the hook end of the spring broke off. Would be nice if the spring was separate instead of being built into the end of the cable.

I have also broken steering triggers, the left one is not there now. The chute control has been a pain almost from the beginning. The push button to unlock it hasn't worked in years, the bushing that the hex rod fits into on the handle is now cracked and just spins around the rod. It is getting annoying to have to stop and manually adjust the chute.

My driveway has small hills on either side and with a winter like we are having this year, the TB isn't able to throw over the snowbank. I like the looks of the platinum 24 SHO EFI. Stopped by a dealer the other day and looked at a 24 compact. Seems much better built than the TB. I like the idea of efi and the extra distance of the SHO impeller. 24 seems a bit small for my 10 x 100 driveway. I wonder if Ariens is going to offer the EFI on the other platinum models next year. What I would really like is a platinum wheeled 28 SHO EFI, although I could live with a 30. It definitely will be an efi, I hate dealing with carbs.

The TB is going to get fixed up and left at my rental 3 hours from here. I have a plow guy, but want something up there to clear the path for the oil guy and the front walk as well as cleaning up what the plow can't get at.

Glad to be here, seems like a nice place.
