just acquired an older 1999 HS 928 without a manual. Ignition key fell out and can't be reinserted. Outer ring just keeps spinning.Any suggestions as to what the problem is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You need a new ignition switch. I believe it's 35100-767-B11, on eBay for $60. Elsewhere for a little more. Check your specific # to be certain. Also, not certain if you need a new key, as well.
i just replaced a similar switch on my hs621. over time the clips that hold the switch in place or the hole get worn then the switch spins and my PO kept spinning it and twisted the wires out of the base.
i got a used switch for $20 off ebay and used a little glue/epoxy to secure on the back of the control panel to secure.
