I have an Ariens ST1032 (parts blower) and I am trying to remove the engine from the frame but it is stuck on the studs (looks like it was sitting outside for a while and corrosion built up between the studs and the engine base holes).
Has anyone had to deal with this? If so, what are my options or approaches as to separate the engine from the frame?
Thanks...!
can you get a pry bar like auto techs use between the motor base and tractor frame? spray something like wd 40 or your prefered around the studs try to rock the motor side to side with the bar.
they are normally only a 5/16 or 3/8 bolt/stud so hopefully you won't have to use to much force
Had that happen to me a few times. Just going to have to remove the bolts and soak it with pb. Pry at its every few days till it breaks loose. Took me over a month the first time.
That’s a clever idea to run the motor with the base nuts loose.
I’d simply spray it and wedge it up with a chisel or pry bar. Wedge it up an 1/8 then tap it down. Do that a few times and the corrosion will crumble away.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
The engine does not run.
I'll start soaking it tonight and likely use the chisel/hammer/pry-bar method.
I'll post when progress is made or the engine is off.
