Limited-slip, posi-traction differential

Since I am 'conditioning' my thrower for the first time ever in 23 yrs, I have come across something I was unaware of....the ability to adjust the drive axle from limited-slip to posi-traction.
1- has anyone done this and if so are there adverse effects for the benefits?
2- having this available adjustment, over time should it be checked and or adjusted to keep the L-slip aspect operating properly, and if so what should I look for and parameters to follow?
