Canadiana Stall problem

Hello

This is my first snowblower i've ever owned and received it a few days ago and worked great. We had over a foot of snow here in Ontario and was pleased with the way it worked. I then brought it back out the next day to clean up a little of snow I had left, not even 6 inches worth. I started it up and started and drove fine in both reverse and forward. When i engaged the auger, as soon as I hit a little bit of snow it would bog right down and not even throw the snow 2 feet ahead of me. I tried adjusting the idler screw under the carb but nothing. It also would backfire quite a but under load as well. I assume it was because i adjusted the screw too lean.

I am by no means a mechanic and know little about carbs. The friend (car mechanic) I got it off of put a kit in it, fixed the main drive, changed oil, fresh gas in it as well. Any ideas why it would work perfectly fine one night , then the next day not work at all when under load? Thanks guys, ill post some pics of the blower as well.

Did you rememer to open the choke up as it warmed up? If it's backfiring and sputtering it is running to lean. If adjusting the mixture screw didn't make a difference I would drop the bowl on the carb and see if you have water or gunk in there and try clenaing it up.

If the engine speed bogs down when you hit a load, take a look at the governor. Might be the spring is weak or the lever is out of whack. Having said that, carb, governor, fuel system all go hand in hand.

Work fascinates me.
I can watch somebody work for hours...

Ok first put the carb setting as it was before your adjustment, now it seems like the blower spent the night out? It is quite possible by the fact it worked quite hard the first time with snow melting the governor may have frozen in place. Of course the carb adjustment may be too lean explaining the backfires and let's hope it is only that. Just one question when you started your engine did it at any point jerk the cord from you?
