Trouble seating flywheel on Ariens 10000 snowblower

The ring gear on my Ariens 10000 series snowblower is heavily worn on one side and does not engage the electric starter.

I've found a replacement flywheel and ring gear - but can't get it seated on the shaft. I've got the flywheel aligned with the shaft key, but it doesn't seem to be moving when I encourage it with hammer and socket.

The new flywheel has the same part number and is the same size as the old one.

How do I get the new one seated on the shaft?

Thanks,

Jim

You need to torque it down to the specified torque. Its an interference fit, usually. Do you have the key in position, also? I thin the flywheel nuts on Tecumseh's,s is usually 60Ft Lbs. But you should verify that. Put some rope in the plug hole, to lock the piston in place, so it will not move during the torquing of the flywheel nut.
