help out a newbie

hi all,

Ordered my very first snow blower, 28 SHO, online - dealer would have charged $200 extra for servicing+tax+delivery. Very excited to use it.

It is going to snow on thursday here in MA - looks like i wont be able to use the blower. Yep, ordered it too late - procrastinator here.

can someone please give me tips/video links to first thing i need to do once i get the blower and any maintanence tips.

Any suggestions/advive will of great help.
thanks!

Make sure you fill it with oil to the proper level.

I never ordered online before, but checking the oil is always good. I assume it comes all set up, so after that it should be good to go. Maybe you could adjust the skids to your liking, I use a paint stirring stick under the scraper.

In general doesn't Ariens fill the machines with oil before shipping? Checking it is of course a really good idea!

I got mine from a big box store and when I got it I followed the setup instructions making sure every nut and bolt was tightened (They missed two of them....) and of course checked the oil and topped off the gas with some treated, ethanol free gas. The gas was 91 octane but that is all that is sold E free around here.

I bought mine online also - similar situation. It'd have cost around $200 more for the unit, and they were pushing the 2015/16 model on me hard instead of selling me a 2016/17 model like I was looking at online. Plus tax too.

I got mine from Snow Blowers Direct and had it shipped to my work (we have a dock). Had our shipping dept fork-lift it into my truck. It took me longer to get the crate out of the back bed of my truck and tear down the crate than the time it took me to assemble the snowblower. Easy setup!
