Ariens without Skids

I am thinking of buying a 28 inch Ariens. It wont fit in my carrier that I have in the back of my suv. I have two houses so I transport it. If I take off the two skids on each side it will fit. I have flat pavement. Do I still need the skids?
also looking at the 26 inch cub Cadet 3 stage. Its narrower so it would clearly work without taking off the skids. I looked at both of them in HD that were side by side. Wondering if the CC cleans down to the pavement as good as the Ariens as the augurs seem a little higher.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you absolutely, positively need to have the skids. They are a wear item and if you don't have them you will kill your blower in short order as the bucket itself wears out.

Skids are absolutely needed.
