teardrop bucket style interchangeability

Hello, all. With the Ariens 24" bucket, was the teardrop-style's auger or auger gearbox interchangeable with those in the later flat front type bucket? I had read that the buckets themselves are not interchangeable.

I have a machine with an early 924 bucket with the cast iron gearbox mounted to a ST724 Chassis. Sorry, no pics-it's snowing here.

I have noticed that the 924 buckets from a machine with small wheels is a different mounting point on the bucket to the tractor then those with the big wheels. I think that they will interchange ( disclaimer...haven't tried it yet) but if they do...the angle of the bucket hitting the ground will change. it looks to me that the big wheel mounting points are an inch or so higher on the bucket.....I love the 924 Ariens by the way!
