I'm almost done rebuilding one, If it's in good shape otherwise I would say it is but would still try to talk him down. Repowering it has many options or you could rebuild it.
Sno-Tek Modded, 15"X-Track tires (Now has same X-Track tires but 13"x4" for better fit), 254cc engine LED light and hand warmers.
Snapper 6/22 sold but not forgotten. Was my first.
Ariens ST1027LE workhorse and going strong.
New 2017 Ariens Deluxe completely rebuilt after losing a fight with a forklift.
try to get him down to 100 and throw a predator on it. if its in good shape, anything less then 150 is a good buy
Iam on the fence because its and L head if it was ohv it would be in the garage already it has the dual pulley on it
Those engines can be found cheaply, But many other engines will also work, My duel pulley had to be replaced but mine was in tough shape but now it's pretty good and plan to paint. I also got one of the Briggs engines in one of the threads for $220 and debated to put it on with little modding required. but my L head is running good. Also have a auto turn kit ariens makes for it on order. I really like this machine if you couldn't tell LOL Heck if you don't want it I'll buy it from him. Have a engine already to mount and I'll sell the lesser of the two condition wise.

175 seems high, especially at the end of the season, since it'll be some time before you can use it or sell it. However, It might be possible to free up the engine. If you do get it, Pull spark plug and put pb blaster or mystery oil in the cylinder, and try to break it free with a pipe wrench on the crank. Also check inside the engine shroud for mouse nest or a broken starter tooth can jam up the flywheel.
