Question 924000 bucket - small wheel vs large heel tractor?

Greetings. I'm just curious about something.

I started dissembling a bucket from a Ariens model 924039 that I purchased to put the guts into the bucket of my 924050 (if you're in the Hartford CT area and looking for a 924039 tractor minus the motor I can put you in touch with the guy).

The sticker in the 924039's bucket states that it is a model #824001. Doing a web search I see that the 824001 bucket is for a tractor with small wheels whereas the 824002 bucket is for a tractor with large wheels.

My question is: does anyone know what the physical difference is between the two?

TIA

24" Augers of the same Shape and Series Should Interchange. The Guts of an early Round 924 bucket will not fit the Square Bucket IIRC.

Hi Jack, yes I do recall your saying that in an earlier post. I was just curious what the physical difference is between a square bucket for a large wheeled tractor and a square bucket for the small wheeled tractor.

It is mentioned in this PDF on the first page.

I believe they are the same, and Should Interchange.

At first I wondered, to myself, "where did you see that? I have never heard of such a thing before.." then I thought..uh-oh, where would it likely be? yep:

(its my own webpage!)

That info was pulled from Ariens owners and service manuals. Its a very rare notation that Ariens designated specific bucket models to go with specific tractor models. Its so uncommon, I forgot it even existed!

I would say its 99.999999% likely that the buckets are completely identical, and either bucket model can go with either tractor model..why Ariens made that specific distinction back in the 70's I dont know, but history shows that the same bucket has always been used across an entire "series"..one bucket model fits many different tractor models.

Yes, I did come across your page as well, very nice. I also found it referenced in Ariens documentation, in the link above.

Thanks for the input.
