Early Cast Iron Gear Case in Ariens 924000 Series

I have a Areins ST724 and love the blower....Its a 924048 with an aluminum gear case. I have been kicking around buying a cheap early-mid 1970's 24" Ariens parts machine with a cast iron gear case and installing its auger/impeller/or entire bucket assembly in/on my ST724. I would either install it as a unit impeller and auger assembly adapting it to my ST724, or swap the entire bucket, impeller, augers. I realize I would have to choose 70's unit where Ariens had begun to drive the auger pulley with a belt/pulley.

Has anyone attempted doing this? If so, would it be a direct swap? If not what issues would arrive?
