924 Ariens 8 32 refurb

Hey Gang.....was bored today and had a older 32 inch 924 that had a Honda gas tank McGyvered on and missing a carb box. I've been wanting to try a 32 in for my own use (I'm starting on a 1032 project with a 414 Loncin to go on it) and this one I figured I could do in short time. I started by swapping my 8hp ( ran good, but want bigger) for a 2006 10 Hp Tech..from a Noma 1027. I was hoping to find a 12, but that didn't happen. Anyway, Scott will be proud I didn't succumb to the dark side with a Chondra...lol. I did a quick impeller kit, put a taller chute on,geared up the impeller drive pulley by 1/4 inch and knocked the transmission drive pulley down by 1/4 inch. Hitched up a light from the Noma, wired up the Ariens key switch and impeller safety...and good to go. Just need a storm to try her out!

Looks Good Cranman! I'm using the same machine, Early Bucket, 10tec, Tall Chute, and Impeller Seal. I'm sure yours will be a "Keeper" once You Try it out.

Thats a great machine

I have the same machine except for the chute control.
I did the 10 hp transplant and it has served me well for 3 years.
Keep it greased and change oil it'll last for many years.

Well Friends...got to try out "Bertha" today......in Lakeville, south coast of Ma. we had about a foot plus of HEAVY snow....bottom three inches was pure slush. Yesterday I did the house drive with the Chondra powered St 824 and it performed like a champ..as expected. The clone was on the governer the whole time blasting the slush and heavy snow. Love the impeller kit and the extra RPMs of the clone. Tonight I tackled the long drive to the garage and the parking lot with Bertha.....I'm very pleased with her. The 10 hp was enough to take a full bucket without complaining, and the impeller kit kept it from clogging and threw it a good distance. It didn't throw as far as the 24 inch Chondra, and I'm guessing because of the max RPM difference between the clone and the Tec. Tomorrow I'm going to put new skids on a track drive Craftsman 2 that I converted to wheels....10 hp Tecumseh and 32 in bucket..and compare it to Bertha first without an impeller kit, then after......more to follow!
