ST724 Traction Spring

Hello Last year I purchased a used ariens st724. Model # 932027 Serial # 024501. On the last storm of the year the traction belt popped off. And this thing is kicking my butt trying to figure it out. The old belt looks like it was rubbing on something, which caused it to come off. Well when I put the new traction belt on it was rubbing (just barely) on the belt finger (guide). So I cut the belt finger so it wouldn't touch, however I noticed the traction tension spring was also rubbing on the traction belt. Thinking the spring might be worn out I ordered a new one, but the new one which i ordered from the ariens dealer is a different spring. And that spring rubs along side of the traction pulley. Now I am not sure if I have the tension spring attached in the wrong postion or it is the wrong spring. Also not sure how much play should be in the big traction pulley but it seems to have some play in it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

These are the springs the top gold one is the new one.

Here is where I think the spring is supposed to attach (to the belt finger)

Well I found out that the new spring is correct but I have no idea where it gets hooked at. Anyone know where the gold spring is supposed to attach to.
Thanks

i would say where the red arrow is pointing to the little slot on the frame, dont have one but it seems obvious enough, a test with it there would verify that
