Retrofit trigger-lock diff to 924 series?

Hey does anyone know if there's a way (even with a little fabrication) I could retrofit my 924084 (ST1032 from early '90's) with a differential lock that can be operated from the handlebars?

I've seen a few photos of much later models (like within the last 10 years) with diffs like that and auto-turn and it appears the splines on the axles are much finer. But I also just recently saw a C'list ad for an ST1136 that looks like it's from the same era as my machine, and supposedly has a diff that can be locked/unlocked with a handle on the handlebars (vs. the knob on the left wheel).

Does anyone know anything about this?

Be alert! America needs more lerts.
