EOD Deluxe 24 v. Platinum 24

As I compare the 2 models the main differences are the engine size and the chute rotation.

My concern isn't the driveway, either can handle what I need. But the end of driveway is the question. Is the extra horsepower all about the high output, or would also make a significant difference in it's ability to clean up the heavier snow left by the town plows?

Any chance that someone here has played with both and has an opinion on the 2?

thanks in advance.

member cardo had both he got rid of the deluxe and got the plat as the other was under powered
many others think the 254cc is under powered others will say its not
its 7.5 hp the sho is close to 12 hp
the sho also has a much higher impeller speed
the 254cc deluxe 24 is a chevette
the 369 sho 24 is a corvette

Platinum 24SHO is definitely better for the EOD, no doubt (Id prefer an EFI though).

Virginia/Mass? in the middle... Northern NJ, with typical messy snow. But I have a sidewalk along a busy street, which in effect is like a long EOD since the trucks plow right onto the sidewalk.

I noticed that the SHO is also 40lbs heavier than the deluxe. Does that help from climbing or is it balanced on the back?

I'm leaning towards the "corvette"

According to this article from Paul @ Moving Snow...

254cc puts out 12.5 lb-ft and 8.5 HP
369cc puts out 18.5 lb-ft and 11 HP

It's better to have more power and not need it then need more power and not have it. With that said, I won't buy a blower under 300cc.

12.5=11 if its lucky @ 3600 11x3600=39600 div by 5252= 7.53 hp
the 369 has 17.2 ft lbs 16.5x 3600=59400 div by 5252= 11,3 hp they are rated @ higher rpm for peak torque and max rpm is 3850 mine is running 3830 rpm
the old ratings had the 17.5 ft lbs tech ohv [email protected] 13 hp thats bs it was 11 hp
the 369 cc say 17 ft lbs on the engine never ever 18.5
