Loud noise turning off

Today was the first time I got to use my new Arien 28 Deluxe. This was my first time using a snow blower, when I turned the machine off it made a loud bang, almost like a gun shot. Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

Did you have it at full throttle right before you shut it down? May have been raw gas in the muffler, causing a backfire. you need to idle it down a short bit, before you shut it off. Possible explanation.

There was probably a little unburned fuel in the chamber. Make sure to throttle down before turning off your snowblower and that will probably help.
