hunting at wot idles good

ariens start 1st pull idles good ,move the throttle to wot and it runs rough .and breaks up.
move the throttle down it clears up
rebuilt carb , replaced carb , it must not be a carb .
coil or gov setting .

Check to see if fuel line is restricted.....hunting at WOT suggests to me not getting enough fuel ...if the new carb is up the main jet....if not, drill out the main jet, assuming you are getting good fuel delivery.....good idea to change out all the fuel as well...

Is it an adjustable carb? Some of the non-adjustable ones I've run into never ran right IMO. I ended up replacing them with a fully adjustable Oregon unit and solved my issues. If it is adjustable I'd run it full throttle and adjust the high speed jet till it smooths out. That would be my starting point.
