November 1969 I believe. "9" for 1969 then "317" the julian type day of the year. Believe that's how it works.

1974 Ariens 922008/922003 "Frankenstein", my dad's 1st new snowblower
1971 Ariens 922002/922003 "The Badger", recent addition, ready for snow
1971 Ariens 922002/922003 "Juneau", finally ready for snow
1971 Ariens 910962/910995 "Bill", SOLD 3/7/2019

Four digit number means it was built before 2004. First digit is the year, 1969, 1979, 1989, etc. Without a picture it's not easy to be sure of the year. Steel tank or plastic? It would also help to know which Sno Thro it's on to narrow the date. Then you'd need to figure out if it's the original engine.

I popped over to Jack's to look at the exploded parts diagram but it showed a couple variations of the engine so that didn't help. I have Ariens models from 1963 to present, a picture would really help.

The last three digits are the day, starting at 001 for January 1.
