My 28 Pro

Yesterday I was able to mount my 25# SS bar onto the Arien's bucket. The hardest job was just drilling 4 5/16'' holes into the bar although with my drill press made short work of it. I had concerns about moisture getting trapped between the new bar and the bucket making it a prime area for rust. I believe I solve that problem by adding a strip of weather strip, very similar to ice & water used on roofs. the strip overlapped the bar by about 1/4'' on all edges.

Now something interesting happened while doing this, at least interesting to me. I have not raved over Ariens steering solution. So while working on the installation I happened to notice that the scrapper bar was riding on my garage floor as were the side cleats that many have changed to longer pairs. I thought, no wonder this is hard to steer! OK, the cleats or whatever they are know by should support the bucket, not the scrapper bar. Heck each little irregularity in my driveway will enhance the machine to pull to the sides. So I adjusted the bucket so there is a 3/8'' space between it an my garage floor.

Major snow storm predicted for tonight.......yeah, major, about 2-5''. So sometime tomorrow I look forward to see if my added weight along with adjusting my bucket clearance makes using the machine easier.

So--- more later

Cool! Sounds like it installed well, with some unexpected benefits!

We got about 2" of really-fluffy stuff overnight. Hopefully we get an actual decent storm at some point this winter! I don't think we've even gotten a full 6" in any 1 storm this winter. Boring.
