Deluxe EFI Metal/Teflon Like Smell

Hey all,

I'm in my 3rd winter with my Deluxe EFI and today I fired it up to use it for the snow we received over night. As I started to use it there happened to be a smell of what was like almost a metal burning/teflon burning like smell. It's harsh on the nose and is still lingering in my sense of smell hours after doing the blowing.

I'm not sure where to begin to diagnose the issue or what it could possibly be. The oil wasn't changed but I did check before the season and it seemed ok. I'm thinking I'll double check and ensure it's at the desired level.

Any insight into why this might be happening would be helpful.

Thanks!

Sounds very possible. I just went down to check stuff and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. No cables seemed to be touching any hot areas. I believe tomorrow I'll have round 2, so I'll look into it more.

Not an uncommon smell on a new machine. I get a new snowblower every few years so I'm use to it, lol

Were it not 3 years old, I'd say it's the coatings and crap burning off the muffler. Not sure how long that stuff hangs on (or how much use this has had), but that might still be it . . . Should be about the omly thing that gets hot enough to burn anything . . .
