Auger engagement issue

So it appears as though my old Ariens can't push throw any snow. Good belt.

I then noticed some slippage where the small shaft enters into the pulley. Tightening the Allen bolts don't seem to do anything anymore. Are there grooves or holes they should fit it?

Thanks guys!

Those are set screws, but most scenarios also have a keyway for the pulley to shaft assembly.

I would split the unit, and check into the issue further for properly fixing it.

At least the shaft slides put should be pretty straight forward.

So It was weird. The Chuck fell out but was in super good shape. Put it back in. Tightened nuts snugly and blows like a maniac.

Was there a key grove? Its not likely that ONLY the set screws are supposed to hold it.

It had to end someday. Here in the Midwest it's a blessing.
