new ariens deluxe 28+ eats a newspaper

stopped it dead engine and all in a heartbeat but...i removed the paper from the impeller area easily and if fired right back up and kept on going. nothing harmed amasingly enough!! only other issue ive had with it has been the hairpin clip thats on the auger drive handle broke and fell off...easy fix with a new one. thats all ive got for the first year with this so far....its all good

Ah, the old buried newspaper in the snow gag! As long as you catch it quickly, you should be OK. I've had it happen several times this winter while helping out my neighbor. If it happens enough, your auger belt can start to wear out, so watch for that.

Yeah I just caught one a couple weeks ago in my 926LE. What gets me is that I was being the nice neighbor and doing someone else's sidewalk.

If it had caused permanent damage I would be kicking myself repeatedly!

I had this happen to me a few years ago. Big Sunday edition, worked its way behind the imprller and for the life of me I couldn't budge it. Switched to a backup snow blower and when spring came, I let the hose trickle into the discharge chute for about an hour. The newspapaer got water logged and I was able to pull out chunks of watery paper goop. Took another hour to get it all out. But it fired right up afterwards and ran like nothing happened.
