Lost power-Ariens 1128

Made a bit of a mistake yesterday blowing our 14in snowfall and forgot there was a rubber door mat on the ground. Hit it, shear pins didn't go, and the blower just stalled out. Got the mat out and it started right back up, but now when it hits into snow it bogs down horribly. Stupid, yes, I know. Not sure what I broke, but does anyone have any ideas? What was a smoking blower is now having trouble due to it's stupid owner.

Thanks for any help.

We have all done it. Some worse than others. Does the engine actually die down like it is loosing power or does it simply not throw as far like the belts are slipping.

If just the impeller is slowing down I would say check on your belts.

If it is an engine problem then maybe you sheared the flywheel key. That is common on lawnmowers when hitting something, but I can only recall 1 or 2 cases on snow blowers.

Please direct all snow blower questions to the forums and not to me with PMs.

It acts like it would normally act if hitting into really wet, heavy snow. It doesn't throw as far, but you can hear the engine working harder. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to get at the belts since that sounds the easiest. Thanks for your reply!

I wonder if you bent something in the auger or impeller and its dragging on the housing and combined with the snow load its dragging the motor down.
