Question Service Questions

First post here. I've got a couple of questions.

Got a used 1971 Ariens 910 series 7HP last season, it works great.

Got it out again last week to go over it for the season and wondered what the tire pressure should be (turf tires with chains) and what might be required to free the differential lock. Tried PB Blaster last year and this, it's stuck!

Any ideas out there?

Thanks

Tire pressure will be stamped on sidewall somewhere.

Tire pressure on a snowblower is usually around 5-10 psi I think. Lower psi without chains for traction, higher psi with chains so the chains don't slip. I would think PB blaster on the differential. You might have to take it apart to get at it better and work at it with a hammer or something. I am not sure how the 910 series works, but I know the 924 series is just a pin on a spring that snaps into one of 3 holes on the wheel hub.

I keep my axles lubed with a light coating of lithium grease. No experience with those locking setups but if it's supposed to move freely it will need regular lube maintenance, especially at the end of the season before storing.
