gear case question

I picked up a st1032 this weekend off craigslist and it has some play in the main shaft where it enters the gear case. How much is too much? If I rock the auger, the gearcase rocks about an 1/8 inch. Thanks guys! Chip

there will be some movement. but you do not want a lot of slop in there. it is summer now. break it down and have a good looksee in there. then let us know by posting pics of it. ALOHA from the paradise city.
