Auger oil type

Guys and Girls,

If I wanted to add the tiniest amount of oil to my auger case, must it be Ariens lubricant?

I have tons of different oils and greases in my garage and wondered if a hypoid oil would do it?

Thanks,

What does Ariens recommend? Do you have your owner's'manual? What'does it advise?

I was going to top off mine and ended up buying the small bottle of Ariens L3 (?) fld.
I ended up pulling the plug and putting the machine in the service position and draining all the fld. I'm glad I did. The old original fld looked like it's seen better days. It resembled well used gear oil out of my truck. Brownish gray in color. The bottle held just enough fld to fill it up.
It was expensive at about $14.00 for the bottle, but I got "piece of mind" and know the gear case has the right fld and is full.
