Thoughts on Ariens

I have my eye on a 3-4 year old Ariens Deluxe 27 with the 1150 snow series B&S engine and from all the searching I've done, I'm gathering that the engine was built in China. Any feedback regarding this engine? Good or bad?

The machine sounds like it is at least 4 model years old. That engine is made in China and has 11.5 foot pounds of torque as another member stated. The engine should be adequate for a 27 inch machine but would be better on a 24 inch machine.

Hey Biketrax....

Where's the PIX of YOUR new acquisition??

I see you're listing a new machine at the top of your list there.

2015 Ariens Deluxe 28+ 921037, 414cc LCT (now son's)
2014 Ariens Platinum 30 921029, 414cc LCT (mine forever)

Model is indeed the 921012. according to the photo, it is the 250 cc with 11.50 ft-lbs gross torque. I was worried it might be underpowered for a 27 inch machine. I've also got my eyes on a Deluxe-30 with the 1450 B&S engine.. about 6 years old... That one has the Made in USA sticker on the engine.

It amazes me how many engine choices there are now a days vs what I was used to back in the day on the JDs, Toro's, and old Ariens ST line.. Back in college I worked part time on the campus snow clearing crew and they had just purchased about 20 new at the time ST1032s. Those things were monsters! if you kept it in 2nd gear, they easily handled 2-3 feet of snow. I would love to get my hands on one, but it's much too big for my needs, yet I feel rather charitable and might do a number of neighbors walks and driveways with it and maybe earn a little side $$$. The problem would be storing the thing.
