updated : hi,new member:
hi, new here. great site for info.i am a big,big fan of the older ariens snowblowers. I picked one up in the early to mid 1980's for free it was not running and painted over in a cheap, black paint, that has slowly came off to show the original paint underneath.cleaned the carb ,got it running ,it is still going strong after 30 plus years that I have had it.tractor is, model 910954..ser. 002968..blower is mod.910995 ser#003054 32" bucket. the original tec engine blew a rod at the end of the 2012-2013 winter.(was not repairable)so I stripped all I could off it to save the parts.i had an old craftsman tiller with the large tines in the front,it was only 5hp b&s but figured I would give that a try even though I thought it would be under powered.it mounted easy and the shaft was at the correct height.the shaft was a little to long so instead of cutting it or making a hole in the belt cover I made one out of the botton of a 6 gallon plastic bucket i did have to lower the shute rod as it was to high with this engine on it.i don't know the tourqe or speed but it worked better than the 7-8 hp tec that was originaly on it.it went through the 3 foot snow and 6 to 8 foot snowbanks we had last winter without even a whimper. these machines move snow better and has outlasted many of the newer(very expensive) throwers out there. last week I picked up one that was being tossed with no engine, with the 24" bucket .it is in good shape except a few bushings that need replacing.i am in the process of redoing that one. removing the rust re-paint ect.. not a full restore but close.but here is the prob...the bucket is mod# 910995- ser#016713...the tractor just has a model # of just 910.. serial# 010737 nothing else. I brass brushed to see if there were more model numbers under some crud, but nothing.it also has the differential setup.so I do not know what bushings to get for this machine, or any other parts for the tractor for that matter.any help identifying would be appreciated. I think tractor may be a 910965 but not sure at all. I am going to take the 5hp on my 32 inch machine and move it to the 24 inch one seeing how it worked so well on the bigger bucket blower, then "restore" and re-power the 910954 for next season.i will be posting pics of both machines in the next few days and the before and after pics of the "restores".. not sure if restore is the right term, but clean, sand, repaint,,repower, and whatever else is needed so that they will still be going in another 30 years (hopefully)....you can see where the black paint was on my 32" the paint and chrome looks new
