Error in Platinum Series "Operator's Manual" 4/15

Just a head's up if you have a 2015-2016 Platinum Series Sno-Thro that was delivered with the 4/15 manual . . .

I bought a 2015-2016 Platinum 30 SHO in September that was delivered with Operator's Manual # 04856200B - 4/15. I ordered some shear bolts from Amazon, based on part number 53200500, as shown in my manual, page EN-13 (and FR-14).

I just discovered through a post on movingsnow.com that the part number is 51001500. I confirmed this on the Ariens parts department website. Hmmm, looks like the factory goofed.

So I called the factory and the parts department, after checking the manual, confirmed their printing error and also advised that there's a new, corrected Operator's Manual dated 10/15.

I'm pleased to report that they are sending me 2 "3 packs" of the correct shear bolt 51001500.

Kudos to Ariens for making good on their error.

Rich

Are they sending a new manual as well?

Work fascinates me.

So, are you saying that the bolts are different for this years model and last years model? Would that apply for the Plat 24 as well, or just the 30 incher?

I did not ask for a new manual. Not a bad idea, though. I did not ask if there were any other errors.

Good questions, but I don't know. You should call Ariens Customer Service to get your questions answered.

My Craftsman manual has a couple of mistakes in it. They list the wrong spark plug, and only mention 1 of the 2 types of shear bolts required. Different for the augers and the two that go in the impeller shaft. I made sure to make notes in the manual with the correct part numbers. Sears doesn't even want to acknowledge there are mistakes. I mentioned to a manager there he should try and stick an L Head plug in an OHV engine and see how he makes out. All I got was a heartfelt "huh?"

Also updated the manual with part numbers for the throttle plate and fuel shut off I added because Mr. Briggs didn't think they were necessary.

Work fascinates me.
