Aliens 924039 Interlock Lever

I have inherited an older Ariens, model 924039. It's a nice unit. I have everything functioning except a trigger feature called the Interlock Lever. I cannot see how this works or what it's function should be. The trigger on the right handle actuates a rotating rod in the gearbox. This rod does nothing. Any input in appreciated.
Thank you,
J

Does it by any chance lock down the auger lever when you push down the traction lever so you have one hand free to fiddle with other things?

Work fascinates me.

From the 924000 series manual:

Interlock Lever - To minimize the chances for injury while the rakes and blower are operating (Attachment Clutch engaged), either the interlock lever or the tractor clutch lever must be depressed or the engine will stop.

*how* it works is a different matter altogether

On my Predator swapped 924040, the interlock lever does nothing and I plan to remove it.
