1970 ariens carb bowl question

Before i get really upset and weld this stupid thing shut i want to ask you knowledgeable folks what the best way to fix this carb bowl might be. This is the first carb i have seen that has a quick bowl drain spring loaded pin thingy in it. probably is the gasket material is all dried out and that pin is small. I have tried a very small oring on it with some success. It still leaks a little. I have tried making my own gasket out of a new eng thermostat gasket which leaked like a sive..lol..i am not sure what else to try that is safe with gas and wont break down or leak..I am very close to welding the hole shut and ditching the quick drain pin idea..LOL

Hi Toxic
You are angry at the "bowl drain" which allows the owner to drain fuel from the bowl with the fuel shutoff "off" so that the bowl can be removed for cleaning. Newer machines were made without the drain, probably due to the leaking issue. You can replace the bowl with the newer version, or simply epoxy closed the drain hole. MH
