My experience

Hi. I`m new in this forum. I just want to share my experience. Maybe it can help other people.
I discovered this forum because I had some trouble with my snowblower. I had inherited an Ariens 824 snowblower. I believe that at the time it was bought, it was an expensive snowblower. It had has some service done to it, but I don`t know what was fixed. Anyways. My problem with this snowblower was that it didn`t throw the snow very far. Maybe one meter at the most. Also, the snow was clogged very often. After googling a little, someone suggestet changing the throwing belt. And guess what. This actually worked for me. I found a video on youtube on how to change it. My brother and I used one hour, since none of us had done this before. The video didn`t suggest that you should be two persons doing the job. However...I had lesser experience in doing mechanical work before, but this was actually easy, if you have the proper tools. No expensive tools needed. This fix cost me around 50 $ (converted from Norwegian crowns). Parts are probably cheaper in the U.S. The throwing range is significant better now. Works as a whole new snowblower. Just want to share my experience. I`m probably not the first one having this problem. I also changed the oil. The oil plug is located on the back of the engine. A long bolt horizontal at the far back of the engine.

Welcome aboard.....!
Thank you for sharing the info.
For better throwing distance you can also install an impeller kit on it (several members have done it with positive results).
