Impeller Shaft Pinned Sprocket

O K..I'm going to try to post a couple of pic's of the spare impeller drive shaft with the 8t sprocket that I made. I used some LocTite 638 retaining compound and a H D 5/32" coiled spring pin to hold the sprocket to the shaft that i made from a pc of 1/2" drill rod. I fastened the sprocket this way to avoid welding it to the shaft, and possibly softening it in the process. However..I can tell you that the sprocket hub was even softer than the non hardened drill rod was.
As mentioned in another post I did all this before having another look at my OEM shaft which was still in good shape. Someone posted that wearing this sprocket was inevitable because of the lack of protection that the chain cover affords. To avoid this, several years ago I drilled a 3/8" hole in the top of the cover and popped in a rubber plug so it would be easier to spray lube on the chain I also put a small bead of RTV around the top and side of the cover leaving just a small part on the bottom unsealed. I take the cover off for a look see every couple of years and so far not enough rust to mention anywhere and the chain looks fine.
