Repower

My B&S 8hp seemed to bog a bit in heavy stuff. I have a 10/33 Nona that no one seems interested in. I'm thinking the Tecumseh might be an easy swap. A hopped up Bobcat could be fun.

DO a compression test and before you do any transplant surgery then change the V belt or belts as belt slip can cause issues with torque loss.

If the compression test is good you can always buy bigger fuel jets for the carburator to increase the power and increase the torque.

I don't think there's anything wrong w the 8. Taking the 10 from the big machine is just a thought. It is a good backup even if a Bear to handle for me.

Been a year. Just got blowers out of shed and mowers put away. Checked b&s parts pix on the off chance this one had an auto compression release. Not on that motor so strip for a look at valves. I thought last years post might have dredged up someone who'd done a newer engine swap. I haven't been able to score any of the local freebies this Fall including some that looked new. Did find 3 free mowers- 1 2stroke LB, ! 4 stroke LB w OHC, and Troybilt OHV. Let's see- Honda cammer, Maybe V twin. Ok, I'll check my valves.

The thing runs great. after deeper surfing found b&s do have ACR. no tear down. heavy snow will be attacked by tracker. bobcat is lite or wet slush specialist.
