Cub Cadet 2X24 snow blower

We have a 2014 2x24 Cub Cadet that has been used only approx. 4 times and a gear in the governor has broken and they want like $350.00 to repair it. The machine only has about 10-15 hours on it. Is this something symptomatic with these machines? Has anyone heard of this before?

$350 to repair it???? UM are they just replacing the entire engine for that price? I would check a few different places for price but for less you most likely could just replace the engine or replace the part yourself if your not afraid to turn a wrench but not everyone wants to do that. Not pos this is the right one but a quick search shows the price of the part to do it yourself and why $350 is way overpriced.

also I couldn't find a Powermore engine which is what the MTD line uses (Cub is a MTD brand) but I did find a LCT which is who Ariens and Husqvarna use for far less than $350

Sno-Tek Modded, 15"X-Track tires (Now has same X-Track tires but 13"x4" for better fit), 254cc engine LED light and hand warmers.
Snapper 6/22 sold but not forgotten. Was my first.
Ariens ST1027LE workhorse and going strong.
New 2017 Ariens Deluxe completely rebuilt after losing a fight with a forklift.

Not a common problem on these engines. Did it over speed and damage the engine?
That may be why they want $350.00 to repair it.
