In May 1975 a man living in Minnesota receives the unit as a retirement gift for his 35 years of service at 3M.

In July same year he puts the house up for sale so he and wife can move to a new retirement community in Albuquerque.

At the moving/yard sale he receives only two low-ball offers for the machine because its not an Ariens and its summer.

So instead of giving his gift away for cheap he takes it with him to NM.

It sits covered in the garage for 40 years, never been used.

February 2017 the man passes away at the ripe old age of 95. He was a chemistry professor at the local Alb community college for 25 years, btw.

In July Craigslist Seller purchases it for only $20 at his estate sale.

I have a similar story for one of my Bobcats.

It was $50 on craigslist
When I went to collect it, I could tell that the guy had a lot of remorse about getting rid of it and even sadness
Turns out it had been in his family for over 30 years and he has fond memories of seeing his Dad using it
As far as his wife is concerned.. it's just a nuisance and something to get rid of to make space
He didn't want to let it go
I told him how great Bobcats are and whipped out the phone showing him photos from Spectrum's Gilson webpage
I went on to tell him how I have other Bobcats and that a lot of us totally rebuild them and repaint them and take care of them
Showed him some pictures similar to #1 on this thread
He smiled and his whole mood changed and a sense of relief came over his face
Loaded it carefully and gently into the Subaru (boy they are heavy)
He actually waved as I drove away with a big smile on his face
That Bobcat IS his Dad to him... gone to a good home
So now I take just a bit more care with that one
Just one of the reasons my cars are on the driveway and the $50 blowers are inside ;-)
True story
Every machine has a back-story

Where did I put those Kleenex....

It's beautiful and would be highly sought after if there were such a thing as a Lambert collector. Or even a smowblower collector for that matter. Six hundred dollars ... must be smoking something.

IMHO, if you want top money you can at least break out a real camera instead of using your phone.

I may be just the guy he's looking for... I like the oldies and Colorado is 420 friendly ;-)
EDIT: I think Spectrum might be that elusive collector.. he certainly puts passion into his website and likes to give Gilsons a good home.

There are a couple of us nuts out there but that one just seems on the edge of crazy at that price. BUT it's just my opinion. After all I'm proud of the broken down Mitsu engined Toro powershift I never would have bought except for the ID plate on it.
Two powershifts, two or three 32" Ariens, one or two 32" JD's and some others, I pretty much have the bug.

Not for resale... sweet!.... That's got to add at least $3000 to the value for those us who are caught by the bug ;-) I've got just one more spot waiting in the garage if I juggle things around.
Over here in the States you can buy personalized plates for a few bucks when you register. In England you can't do that so you have to look for a car with the plates you want and buy the whole car.
Last time I checked, the most valuable plate was "RR1" The guy had a Rolls Royce and to get the plate he had to buy a whole different Rolls Royce just to get access to it. (plates move with the car in UK). That may be a fable not fact though.
Some other ones were a comedian who paid a ton of money for "COM1C" (That's a one not an eye)
I found a family who own both "SS1" and "SS2"... those are my initials!
There's a famous UK magician who has "MAG1C" (another one not eye)

Prototype not for retail sale.

EDIT: I'd hate for that machine to disappear into the ether when that craigslist link goes stale so I'm capturing the pictures here
