Update....the tranny seems to go for $250 on e-bay. Several available.

For those prices, I wouldn't mind having some on hand to rebuild and sell! I know a guy on youtube!

Bolens 824 (re-powered with Briggs and Stratton 14.5GT snow engine)

I've rebuilt them for outdoor powerequipment guys that put them on e-bay after ......I get $100 and they double their money......for some reason...the gears get all rusty and frozen in these trannies. I have to strip them and carefully wire brush every gear ,washer and shaft....then reassemble using fresh lithium grease. I just assembled another one today....starting to get good at it!
