Old Ariens, $450 Really ??

When I first saw it I thought it was high with a new engine and then I looked a little closer and noticed it sure looks like an old engine that might just be new to this machine. Seriously, 450 ?? And the ad says that's a $200 price drop. I sent an email asking if it's really a new engine, no answer yet.

Minnesota = lower value for used snowblowers.
February = snow season is nearly over, prices for used snowblowers are lowering.

10HP doesnt add much value IMO..a bit, but not a ton.
Max value for this machine, right now, about $200.

Perhaps that guy will continue to have this machine for quite some time. . .

If it were cleaner and not so hacked I'd say $450....maybe $400. 32 in isn't that plentiful. If painted right, no rust, good scrapers skids belt, impeller bearing, wheel bearings and a nice installation on the 10 hp, and all serviced......good price. I've paid $150 for ones that needed a ton of work.

It's actually a small engine shop and he did reply that it was a new engine 2 years ago. Looking at the photos I'm still thinking it's a used engine just new to that machine. I'm not interested in it I was just blown away by the price.

I was brand new when I installed it 2 years ago and sits out side in the elements. Kinda sucks the weather is so hard on stuff. I have leaving things out, but a good display. 24-7.

Seems like the current awareness of the planned obsolescence of the new machines has emboldened shops and dealers to charge more for these older machines. I saw this same thing at an Ariens dealer locally last month. He seemed truly miffed when I passed on what I thought was an outrageous price on a 80's machine. Caveat emptor for me.
