Yamaha track Snow blower, Shield 30 Hours - $975 (South Bend)

I don't know squat about Yamaha or this model other than what I've read in my short time here at the forum, but this looked to me like it might be a reasonable deal. Looks pretty decent.....but I have no idea what it sold for originally.
Any opinions???

For someone that knows the build quality of the machine and had used one before it certainly is a reasonable deal, looks to be in pretty good condition.
Electric start and original cab.

Don't know about the 30hours on it though as to my knowledge they did not come with an hour meter (seems to be an add-on hour meter).

There was a post on the Yamaha nabble site from someone who said he paid $1750 for a new YS-624 back in 1991, so a YS-828 would probably be several hundred dollars higher than that, especially one that also comes with the snow cab/electric starter/headlight.

It seems to be very clean (the 31 hours of use seems plausible).

That's too rich for me, and something makes me think that it is almost too good to be true.

Garage:
MTD....2 stage(modern 8.5 HP) not my favorite
Honda HS622 TA-B - acquired at an auction- nice machine for it's size.
Toro S-140- Picked it up on trash day... it runs, sort of.
Yamaha YS 240 TB "Ricky" latest Craigslist find- on the bench now.

I picked it up today. Virtually no wear on the unit so it looks like a true 31 hours. Petcock has a slight drip and surges a bit at low throttle settings. New petcock, carb clean and should be good to go.

Best of luck with that machine, I hope that my skepticism is absolutely baseless and you have many serviceable years with it.

That's the one. Came down quite a bit in price though.
Hey......glad you landed the deal!
It looked decent to me from a distance.

Did you read about it here, or did you find it in a search of your own?
You must have been reasonably close by if you are somewhere in Michigan.

Regards,
Steve

I have a place in Northern indiana and also on Whitefish Point in the Michigan Upper Peninsula(purchased for Michigan property). I was down in Indiana searching the local Craigslist when I stumbled across it. I joined the forum when I had an issue with Honda. A 1332 I had purchased and after many delivery date changes Honda abruptly cancelled my dealers allocation(no more honda for me). I had to scramble and decided to pick up the Yamaha. I will do a carb clean, LED light replacement, oil change, and see how the Yamaha runs.

That's just not good for Honda's PR. Wonder if they oversold like airlines overbook and they just ran out or what ??

Hate to think this guy is somewhere in the Honda shipping department.
Nice Yamaha though.
