I would guess the grandfather bought one new, then years later bought a second one, for the same reason I have four snowblowers, and you have Nine!

The one on the left is a S-262.
the tag on the one on the right isnt visible in the photos, but its also a 26" model,
and based on the decal under the shifter, its a S-263 or a S-264.

Both have 26" buckets and 6HP engines.

the S-262 was made in 1962 or 1963.
and the other one is almost certainty 1963 to 1966.
