The Day of Freebies!

Some Days You are the Windshield....Had a Local ask for a Snowblower Education about Which to Buy and Which Not to Buy after visiting Lowes. I sent him to a Local Dealer, and He Came back and said He's Getting another Ariens. He asked If I wanted His Old One...It's a Nice ST824 I did an auger gear on a Couple seasons ago. Haven't picked it up as of Yet... Another Townie Downsizing Gave me 2 Outboard Motors, and a bunch of small engine parts.... Then I hit the Mother Lode...Another Local asks if I want his "Old" Snowblower. The Place he bought his new one wanted a "Disposal Fee"for taking the old one... I'm going to Replace the Auger Belt, Rest of it Looks Pretty Good...

Must be a full moon over Massachusetts.... Freebies are falling from the sky. I snagged this little treasure off someone's trash pile while picking my son up from school today.
Toro T-25 handheld leaf blower with 25cc 2-stroke engine (50:1 mix) producing 460cfm
Engine was completely locked-up. Piston was seized to the cylinder. Someone must have either run straight gas or a very lean gas/oil mix through the engine until it seized.
Pulled the spark plug and the muffler. Cylinder looked pretty clean. No scoring on the cylinder walls. Made a nice mix of home brew lubricant (2 parts of Mystery Oil to 1 part diesel), pumped a few squirts into the top and bottom of the cylinder, and let it work it's magic for about an hour. Tried giving it a quick hard pull ....and almost knocked myself out with the blower flying back at me. Nothing...engine was still completely seized. Grabbed a short piece of 5/16" wooden dowel, put it through the spark plug hole, and gave the dowel two very light taps with a hammer. Pulled the recoil....and presto.. no more seized engine. Took a closer look at the inside of the cylinder and still didn't see any scoring or marks left from the seized piston rings. Thought to myself...."I never get this lucky" ...threw on the compression gauge and gave it a few pulls.... 120psi and holding ...NICE!!! Threw the spark plug and muffler back on, put in some fresh 50:1 gas mix, gave it a pull, and wouldn't you know.... the son of a gun turned right over and ran like a champ.

I hate you !! (because it wasn't me )

Jackmels: "The Place he bought his new one wanted a "Disposal Fee"for taking the old one..."

You should make sure to contact him in two or three years to save him money on getting rid of the new old one

Last of the Freebies(for now)...Neighbor bought a Platinum 24 SHO AX369. I steered him away from the EFI. I'll pick it up for him from the Dealer after it is Assembled. Here's His Old One Given to Me. Should Clean up Nice, and it's been Regularly Serviced. I replaced the Auger Gear a Couple Seasons Ago.
