What is this bar above the augers

What is the bar above the augers? Is it a baffle of some sorts? I have never seen this before.

Possibly to prevent excess snow from getting tossed out of the bucket.

Also not sure but I agree with AriensPro1128, to contain that fluffy light spray.

The blower looks like a newer Ariens Pro, similar to mine - this based on skids and bucket sides.

I checked parts diagrams and accessories on the Ariens site, but found nothing like that "baffle."

Checked eBay too - nada!

The european snow blowers have a piano hinge set up with separate splatter shields to prevent excess snow from being ejected back out of the snow blower.
