Can the Smell of the Exhaust Tell you Something?

Not sure if this is a silly question but I noticed different machines' exhaust will give off a different smell. Can this tell you something?

i would think so. Interesting question.

unburnt gas?

oil smell?

color of smoke.......black , blue , white....

Sulfur smell could mean the operator ate too many beans...

Running rich but sometimes you can't adjust it out, incomplete combustion.

good way to get dizzy and pass out.....I'll stick to huffing paint.

Exhaust with Sta-bil in fuel stinks! Just gas - not so bad.
