First storm of 2019...

Haven't had the Ariens out since before Christmas. Weather has been cold and miserable but not a lot of snow accumulation. I think this one will need the Ariens touch... Be careful out there... Alerts for: Colchester County - Truro and south
Warnings
10:45 AM AST Tuesday 12 February 2019
Winter storm warning in effect for:
Colchester County - Truro and south
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Snow will begin ahead of an approaching low pressure system late tonight over northern Nova Scotia, then spread to eastern Nova Scotia Wednesday morning. Snow will become heavy at times Wednesday morning, before changing to ice pellets from west to east through the day. Total snow and ice pellet amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected by late Wednesday afternoon.

Strong easterly winds are also forecast to develop, which in combination with the falling snow will give poor visibility in blowing snow. Winds will increase through the day, with gusts reaching 80 km/h over mainland Nova Scotia and 70 km/h over Cape Breton Island. These strong winds will combine with the ice pellets to cause further difficult travel conditions Wednesday afternoon.

The precipitation will taper off Wednesday evening.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Uh-oh! That is crappy timing for finally getting some actual snow.

Good luck everyone. Hoping to try my "new" machine, but at least I have the main one fall back on, if it has trouble.

Certainly. Snowing a lot right now, about 5 cm in two hours. Should get worse around 11 PM for us.

Unless schools aren't closed, I don't plan on getting out of the house until this storms slows down, which should be late morning tomorrow. If schools are open, then I have to clear the driveway so my wife can get to work (she's a teacher). We parked her van close to the street, so I'd only have to clear the EOD to allow her to drive away.

Here in Gatineau quebec. It started around 5 PM and now it's really falling with big gusts of wind. I expect big snow drifts tomorrow morning. All schools in my area are closed tomorrow so I'm staying in with my kids.

We got 20 cm during the night, about 10 more expected this morning. Luckily, in my area we did not have those winds.

Well, we got our 30 cm (about 12").

I cleared the driveway late this morning (took 2 hours), yet it kept snowing all day. I'll have to do it again this evening, though it'll only be 3 to 4 inches.
