OK. Weird request. Can you measure the length of your dip stick. Mine is 1foot long, top of cap to end. Below is my reason for the request.

I have a ariens 926le. It has a Tecumseh lh318sa 9hp engine. The Tecumseh manual says 26 ounces of oil.
But my Dipstick shows me well below safe operating level of oil. Like an inch below the full line. Yes I made sure to put in 26 Oz.
It took 32oz to hit the full mark. What gives?

Garage
On that engine I'm seeing the manual says to screw it down tight and then remove to read. Are you screwing it down ??
I know on some engines you don't and IMHO it's a real pain to remember which engines I need to tighten it and which I just lower it till it touches but not screw it in.

I put a new Dipstick on this morning and when I removed the old one it was screwed on all the way and it said empty.
