I like the X Trak. Seems like the most tread on the ground. And the ability to clean themselves while rolling forward.

Had to change my choice. Had put wrong name.

My Ariens is fitted with the X-Trac like tires and my previous machine had the Polar Trac like tires. Both are very good in snow and ice but I think the X-Trac is better. It is also smoother riding. Regular cross chains work for the Polar Trac but the deeper lugs of the X-Trac need a chain that has a diagonal pattern to stay on top of the lugs.

Never used a deep lug tire on a snowblower.

My fathers Yardman had the Chevron Tread ( called deep lug here) They worked great ... I replaced them with a pneumatic Snow Hog (called polar trac here) ... Still running great

All my other Ariens have the Snow Hog, work flawlessly for many years.

I just received a Craftsman with a new pair of X-trac ....will be interesting to see how they work out this winter.
