Would this taller, yet smaller opening, chute work?

Picked up a few parts and saw this chute - offered $10 and got it.

It's off of a Craftsman 917881150 (11.5hp , 30") and was formerly a cable operated chute.

The body is 18" high without the deflector - taller than the original 10000 series chutes, but not the tallest.
My concern is the base opening is 5". I would like to bolt/weld this to my 10000 32" machine, but the original opening is 5.75" wide.

I might be overthinking this here, but would going to a smaller opening be worse in this case?

I've used smaller diameter Toro Chutes modded to fit Ariens, and they work fine. Impeller seal is more important.
