Help me ID this tank!

I recently purchased this tank from facebook marketplace for $60
I am pretty good with small engines and have the necessary tools to repair / maintain them.
Few years ago I got a 1995 toro 7Hp, 24" snowblower, tuned it up, and it runs better and throws snow better than my neighbors $1000 snowblower.

Anyway, this 10Hp, 32" beast is labeled JC Penney. From what I found online, seems to be a rebranded MTD.

https://www.toolpartsdirect.com/mtd-...del-4924a.html

Unfortunately, that web page doesn't have parts or part numbers.

The carb leaked from the float bowl. I tried to repair it , but the gaskets are shot and need to be replaced.

The chute control cable was seized up and rusted, so I found a Murray cable, identical to my cable, even with adjustable ends. $20 on ebay.

It starts, runs, the augers spin, and seems to be a solid machine.
I noticed on the right wheel... it is a bit wobbly. Where it slides onto the axle, near the center, by the gearbox, it seems as if a spacer or bearing was there to keep the axle straight and not wobble. Without an ID, I can not find a parts breakdown for this machine

So far in $80 into this machine.

I need help with identifying the machine and engine. I know the engine is a Tecumseh 10Hp, but without the year, I can not find too much on it.

I attached some pics.. any info would be greatly appreciated

Yup, rebranded pre-1990 (likely 1988) MTD 4924A: http://www.m-and-d.com/pdfs/MTD/4924A.pdf

Service manual: https://www.repairmanual.com/product...-manual-ssm-3/

Look under the engine cover for the engine ID label.

Hello!
Thanks for the quick reply

I had to do some cleaning and rubbing, but I found the engine model HM100-159117n.
purchased new carb gasket today ( gotta love amazon)

I removed the pin from the right wheel , but it will not come off the axle, yet.

Some PB blaster, maybe some heat and lots of elbow grease should fix that problem.

thanks again

I will post more pics as I work on the unit
