Preadator 212 MODS

Been really enjoy my Predator 212 repowered Ariens 10000 series, engine is set @ 4000 rpms and the machine performs better than it ever has. But Ive been thinking and doing some research(both very dangerous) and been seeing lots Predator modifications out there. Some of these built motors are making 10,000 rpms and putting out over 20HP. Has anyone dove into modifying these things? The modified exhaust might annoy the neighbor's real quick but that's the cost of horsepower sometimes.

The Predator mods Iíve seen online seem to all be focused on more RPM and therefore more HP. Snowblowers need more torque. A little more Engine speed is good, but much above 4,000 rpm will probably make the blower hard to use since the wheel speed will go up with impeller speed. Still an interesting concept. Please let us know what you find!

With stock gearing that would be a concern, but changes to pulley ratios for the drive and possibly the auger/impeller would solve the issue. More hp = more work done in a given amount of time, you just have to properly match up the impeller and drive speeds for everything to work optimally (which will take some changes if you've got a really fast spinning engine).

High rpm on these will require a new flywheel as the stock one will explode... A rod.. as the stock one will break.. Stiffer valve springs as the stock ones will float the valves.. Just as well get a new cam to match the high rpm.
People spend alot of money on those little engine to make big power.. mainly cart racers.. as they have engine size classes.
It's always easier to just use more displacement if you are not restricted to an engine size.
Many people run the predator at 3900 rpm without issue.. when we push it farther it's getting risky .. you may get away with it for a while... The stock flywheel and stock rod are a concern.. if the flywheel goes it can be very dangerous

Good point about that focus on RPM. I"ve seen several cams available, i wonder if any of them are cut to focus on low end power. I might call this company Gopowersports and see if they could make any recommendations

Check out Cars and Cameras on YouTube. They're sponsored by GoPowerSports.com and they have a 10% off code for all their viewers. Tons of Predator 212 engines and they even built the big Predator (420 I think) with billet internals.

well, how much $ do you want to put into it is the real question,

a basic stage 1 kit will make it scream (if you remove the governor, about 50$ for the kit ) then you can add a billet rod and flywheel (around 200$ for both)
and then you have yourselves a 10hp engine that will run at 7000rpms underload.
you will need to gear the snowblower drive down (by adding a smaller shaft pulley)

and then you have yourselves a snowblower that throws snow batter than most new factory spec machines.
